I love reading God’s Word. Before I read, I ask God for inspiration and revelation. I am always amazed at how He leads and inspires. Here is a bible study on 1 Chronicles 28. Some other references are: 2 Peter 1:3*, 1 Corinthians 10:31.
- Obedience to God’s command: God told David he would not build a temple for him because he ‘had been a man of war and had shed blood’ 1 Chronicles 28 verse 3. Rather he chose his son Solomon to build the temple. David was then given the vision and instructions as to how to pattern and build the Temple by the Lord. He could have gone ahead to build the temple anyway even though God told him not to but he chose to obey God. How obedient are we to the instructions of the Lord?
- Godly legacy through parental mentorship: David mentored and encouraged Solomon to build the Temple. David wanted his son to serve the Lord even as he had done. He left his son a godly legacy! He encouraged Solomon to faithfully serve the Lord and be committed to his work. That is the heart of a godly father – one who leads and encourages his children towards the Lord. I pray for fathers and husbands that are Christ/heavenly minded!
- God’s divine provision for his appointed work: Everything external that Solomon needed to build the temple was provided yet he needed the inner courage and strength to pursue this great work of God. The Devil often fights against that inner strength to do God’s will. David encouraged Solomon to trust in the Lord, to not be afraid and to be focused on the work. 1 Chronicles 28 Verses 20,21. Whatever God has called us to do, He has already made the necessary provisions for its success; we just need to ask Him to show us His provision and help us to partner with Him for its fulfillment.
How does this apply to me today?
- God has called me into his kingdom as a minister, wife, mother, professional. He has made available all that is needed for me to function in each role. My responsibility is to depend on His word, grace and strength to carry me through and to function gracefully in His call upon my life.
Modesty: In my modest closet I ensure that I have high quality clothing especially skirts. I bought the pleated skirt that is pictured some years back. I bought 3 different colors – black, pink and red. I liked that the skirts are solid colors; I tend to have lots of florals and prints so it makes it easier to style.
The skirts are my go to skirts for a quick outfit. I also really like it because it is fully lined! This means that I don’t have to wear a slip underneath for modesty. Here is a

Marriage I once worked with a family. The mother of the family expressed her displeasure towards a particular action that her husband repeatedly took. It frustrated her and made her feel as if her husband wasn’t listening to and hearing her. Essentially she had told her husband to place his shoes in a particular place in their home and her husband didn’t always do so; that annoyed her much.
At the time I was still single and I remember encouraging her that her husband’s failure to comply with her instruction is an opportunity to help him. Instead of stressing about it, do it. After all, we are created to be the man’s help. There are things that husbands just need help with.
When I got married this advise would be become instrumental for my own marriage. In the early years of marriage I remember that there were things that ignited annoyance in me as well that my husband did. It was in such moments that I remembered my own words spoken years prior. I have learned that there are some areas of weakness in the man and that is where I come in as his wife, to compliment and not complain or criticize.
To overcome the annoyance, the Lord has helped and is helping me to remember the bigger picture – the thing that is annoying me is it all that important in the grand scale of the prosperity of my marriage? Can I actually do the thing instead of demanding that my husband does it? Perhaps that is one of the things that my husband needs my help and I need to do it gracefully.
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” Genesis 2:18
Motherhood: As a business owner and content creator there are things that I need to get done on a weekly and even daily basis. These days, I am prioritizing getting work done in the absence of my children. Of course, I go out to perform my duties as a nurse weekly, but the work that I do from home is what I am referring to.
I am discovering the blessing of staying up late or waking up early when my children are still asleep. So much can be accomplish when they are asleep! As much as I love them there are moments when their brief absence is necessary to address other aspects of my life. I am learning the importance of not allowing my children to become an excuse to not be all that God has created me to be in my home and beyond, so Lord help me!
