This week (June 28, 2021- July 1, 2021), we were challenged to think about our identity and its source. “Who are you?” was the question to ponder upon. Identity is an important aspect of life. Our identity in Christ as believers is one that empowers us and guides our lives as we journey heavenward. Here is a review and some points to keep in mind regarding our identity in Christ. I pray you are blessed by it.
True identity is found in Jesus Christ our Creator and Savior. Therefore, being born again is essential
Discovery of our identity makes us confident to live a bold and courageous Christian life
Knowing our identity positions us on the path of our purpose on earth
Knowing our identity helps us to make the right decisions because we have a heavenly Guide!
Our identity in Christ makes us content because with Christ we have all things
(7) VERSES THAT REVEAL OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST
➡️ “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9
We are SAVED BY GRACE.
➡️ “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17
We are NEW CREATURES IN CHRIST
➡️ “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” -Romans 8:1 KJV.
We are NO LONGER CONDEMNED by our past sins.
➡️ “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;” – 1 Peter 2:9.
We are CHOSEN, HOLY, ROYALTY, SPECIAL PEOPLE.
➡️ “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 14,16
WE ARE A LIGHT
wherever we go and must shine
so that others can be led to the Light
➡️ “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:20.
We are AMBASSADORS of Christ. Our primary PURPOSE IS TO LEAD OTHERS TO CHRIST by our lifestyle and preaching of the gospel
➡️ “And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory.” Romans 8:17 AMP
We have an INHERITANCE IN HEAVEN THROUGH CHRIST
➡️ “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy” 1 Peter 1:15,16. “For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.”-1 Thessalonians 4:7
We are CALLED TO A DAILY LIFESTYLE OF HOLINESS, CLEANLINESS and PURITY
➡️ “Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.” PHILIPPIANS 4:5
we are CALLED TO A LIFE OF SIMPLICITY AND MODESTY
➡️ “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ”- Ephesians 4:5
We are CALLED TO A LIFESTYLE OF TRUTHFULNESS
➡️ “For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.” – Isaiah 54:5
We are the BRIDE OF CHRIST and must have a focused and commitment and loyalty to Him
Make these verses your regular affirmations! Commit them to memory, pray them into your life, verbally confess them to yourself. Believe them. The next time you are asked who you are, I pray you will remember them!
